  Responsibilities:
· Sets up and operates a variety of precision polishing machines to perform quantity production glass polishing to close tolerances where polishing methods and sequences are predetermined and established tooling provided.

· Performs operations such as super polishing glass surfaces to meet requirements on angles, surface finish, flatness and more.

· Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized attachments and standard tooling; interprets engineering specifications; uses a variety of precision measuring instruments.

· Makes standard shop calculations.

· May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

a. Experience working in a glass precision polishing/ optics shop environment.

b. Ability to follow instructions precisely in a Manufacturing Environment.

c. Experience with hand tools and measurement equipment, such as, autocollimator, interferometer and digital indicators.

d. Effective oral and written communication.

e. Basic math proficiency.

f. Strong attention to details and commitment to quality control.

g. Highschool Diploma / Equivalent and work experience that will allow successful performance.

h. Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office and ERP Systems).

i. Candidate to have minimum of 5 years experience with excellent vision skills (especially under a microscope)

j. Attention to safety (working with large machines) and ability to spend large portion of the day standing and moving as that is typically required in this area.

Preferred Qualifications:

a. Maintaining / Setting-up polishing tables to surface finishing and flatness requirements.

b. Ability to participate in team investigations of a process development nature are expected.

c. Familiarity with SPC, LEAN desirable
