Senior Director/General Manager, CGT

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a General Manager to lead its Cell & Gene Therapy Strategic Business Segment ($200M revenue) in Carlsbad, CA. The role combines full P&L accountability with strategic oversight of product development, customer relationships, and cross-functional execution to drive growth in cell and gene therapy markets.

Responsibilities

• Lead overall strategy and execution of Cell & Gene Therapy business, translating market insights into priorities
• Manage full P&L responsibility and deliver financial, commercial, and operational performance
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with key customers, thought leaders, and strategic partners
• Lead Product Management and Customer Service functions; partner with Operations, R&D, Quality, and Regulatory teams
• Identify and pursue portfolio expansion, strategic partnerships, and cross-divisional growth opportunities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years progressive leadership in life sciences, healthcare, biotechnology, or related industry
• Proven general management experience with significant P&L accountability and profitable growth delivery
• Strong understanding of life sciences markets, cell biology trends, and gene therapy research landscape
• Demonstrated ability to define growth strategies using customer insights, market analysis, and data-driven decisions
• Experience leading cross-functional teams in complex matrix organizations across research, development, and manufacturing
• Working knowledge of regulated environments, quality systems, ISO and GMP standards
