Job Description

SUMMARY This individual works independently and with other members of the software development team, with primary responsibility to design, develop and enhance components of the wheels.com Internet and Extranet sites, extensively focused on delivering customer-facing capabilities. Candidates must have in depth knowledge of software development life cycle with emphasis on front-end tech stack consisting of CSS, HTML. Experience in agile development methodology is a plus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This role is a demanding, highly dynamic and technically challenging position. A candidate must be experienced in all stages of the software development life cycle Requirements gathering, Design, Development, Construction and Implementation. Candidate must be highly proficient in enterprise level n-tier web application development. The candidate must also have excellent people skills and be resourceful in order to manage the software development process. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Qualifications

• Enhancement and maintenance of existing and new web applications
• Technical Design, Coding, and Unit Test of web applications in accordance with business requirements and technical standards
• Design and Development of reusable components for web application
• Participation in functional specifications, prototyping, and estimation for web development projects
• Participate in the development of detailed design specifications for use by the technical team
• Participation in evaluation and prototype of new technologies, coding practices or third-party technology for use in web application
• Work with business teams to clarify requirements and business needs

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science or applicable field
• CSS/HTML
• Strong understanding of responsive web design
• Ability to create user-centered interfaces in order to implement company design patterns
• Ability to work closely with User Experience, Business Analysts, and Creative Design team members to enhance the overall look and feel and usability of web interfaces
• Strong understanding of Bootstrap (3.x) standard components and their customization
• Ability to teach front-end dev concepts to other developers
• AngularJS/JavaScript
• Knowledge of core JavaScript concepts for writing and debugging Single Page Applications (SPA)
• Ability to coach other developers on JavaScript design patterns and best practices
• Experience developing in AngularJS or other SPA frameworks
• Knowledge of transpiled JavaScript languages (e.g., CoffeeScript) a plus.
• Excellent communication skills
• Source control: git and/or SVN
• Experience working as part of a development team (as well as independently)
• Willingness to learn new front-end concepts
• Ability to translate wireframes and high-level designs into visual components
• Experience with GULP or GRUNT a plus
• Experience with Agile Methodology (Scrum) a plus
• Excellent team work skills with an ability to get the work done with minimal supervision
• Understanding of large scale, multi-tier web application architecture
