Position Summary...

Walmart is seeking an experienced Tax Accounting Manager to join our Tax Accounting Global (TAG) Team. This role provides an opportunity to work at the center of Walmart’s global tax accounting and financial reporting processes while helping transform how tax accounting work is performed across our global organization.

As a member of the TAG Team, you will play a key role in the global consolidation of Walmart’s income tax provision, SEC reporting, tax accounting controls, and forecasting processes. You will also partner with our international market teams in the preparation and review of forecasts and annual tax provisions under both U.S. GAAP and IFRS.

A key focus of this role will be leveraging technology, automation, and process improvement in the tax accounting processes. You will help identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve data quality and controls, and develop scalable solutions that enable our teams to spend more time analyzing results and providing insights.

This role is ideal for a tax professional who combines strong technical tax accounting knowledge with curiosity, analytical thinking, and a passion for improving how complex processes operate.

About the Tax Accounting Global Team:

Walmart’s Tax Accounting Global (TAG) Team plays a critical role in the company’s global tax reporting, governance, and financial planning and analysis processes.

The team is responsible for supporting accurate and timely tax accounting and reporting across Walmart’s global organization, including compliance with U.S. GAAP reporting requirements and coordination with our international markets.

We are also focused on the future of tax accounting—simplifying processes, strengthening controls, improving how we use data, and leveraging technology and automation to create more efficient and scalable ways of working. The TAG Team partners across Tax, Finance, Controllership, Technology, and our international markets to develop solutions that improve both the quality of our reporting and the experience of the teams producing it.

What you'll do...

• Support the global consolidation of Walmart’s income tax provision under ASC 740.

• Prepare and review components of the quarterly and annual income tax provision and related SEC income tax disclosures.

• Partner with international market teams to review forecasts and annual tax provisions under U.S. GAAP and IFRS.

• Analyze global tax provision data, identify trends and issues, and translate complex information into meaningful insights for tax and finance stakeholders.

• Leverage ONESOURCE Tax Provision and other technology solutions to collect, process, validate, and analyze global tax accounting data.

• Identify, design, and implement process improvements that simplify tax accounting workflows, reduce manual activities, and improve accuracy and efficiency.

• Explore opportunities to use automation, data analytics, visualization, and emerging technologies to modernize tax accounting and reporting processes.

• Partner with Tax, Finance, Controllership, Technology, and international teams to develop scalable, sustainable solutions for global tax accounting processes.

• Help improve the quality, accessibility, and usability of tax accounting data to enable better analysis and decision-making.

• Support Walmart’s SOX 404 tax accounting control environment, including control documentation, execution, and opportunities to strengthen or automate controls.

• Monitor developments in tax accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting guidance and evaluate their potential impact on Walmart.

• Build strong relationships with stakeholders across functions and geographies and contribute to special projects and strategic initiatives impacting Walmart’s global tax accounting organization.

What You’ll Bring

• 4-8 years of income tax experience, with a strong preference for income tax accounting experience

• Strong knowledge of ASC 740 and U.S. GAAP income tax accounting; experience with IFRS tax accounting is a plus.

• Experience preparing, reviewing, or supporting quarterly and annual income tax provisions and related financial statement disclosures.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with complex financial and tax data.

• A demonstrated interest in process improvement, automation, technology, and finding better ways to perform tax and finance work.

• Experience identifying inefficiencies, improving processes, or implementing technology solutions in a tax, accounting, or finance environment.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax/accounting technology; experience with ONESOURCE Tax Provision is strongly preferred.

• Experience with Power BI, data analytics, workflow automation, or similar technologies is a plus.

• An ability to understand both the technical accounting requirements and the underlying data and processes needed to deliver accurate results.

• Working knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax concepts and compliance requirements.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex tax accounting and process issues to a variety of stakeholders.

• A collaborative mindset and demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively across teams, functions, and geographies.

• Advanced degree or relevant professional certification such as a CPA, JD, LLM, or Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation preferred.

The annual salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $155,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
