Registered Nurse - Progressive Care (Nursing)

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Progressive Care team. This role involves caring for patients in a medical step-down unit with a focus on providing high-quality care for various acute conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with conditions including sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergency, respiratory failure, COPD, chronic kidney disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, substance abuse issues, status epilepticus, and encephalopathy.
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes in condition to the healthcare team.
• Perform nursing assessments and implement individualized care plans to meet patient needs.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated care.
• Support and educate patients and families regarding health management and treatment plans.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to infection control standards.
• Accurately document patient care and maintain electronic health records.
• Participate in training and development activities to enhance nursing knowledge and skills.

Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a progressive care or step-down unit.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required.
• Ability to participate in floating to various Intermediate Care Units (IMCU) as needed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound clinical judgments.

Work Environment

This position is within a dynamic and fast-paced medical step-down unit with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4, ensuring personalized and focused care. This role may involve floating to other IMCU units as required.
