CDL Front Load Truck Driver

Responsibilities of Position Operate trucks in a safe manner to provide trash or recycling removal services to customers on assigned route(s) and/or work orders by emptying trash/recycling containers into trucks and hauling them to a disposal site Maintain and update route sheets Conduct daily pre-trip/post-trip inspections and complete DVIR logs Maintain cleanliness of truck cab Visually inspect front load containers to ensure safe dumping procedures Clean up areas located around containers when servicing customers as needed Open and secure service gates while servicing customers Professionally interact with internal and external customers Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body while following proper lock‑out/tag‑out procedures Service approximately 100–150 commercial customers per day Perform other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility This position will not manage employees Skills & Abilities Needed Ability to read and understand a map and/or navigation system Required to enter/exit the truck approximately 100–150 times per day Excellent truck driving/maneuvering skills General knowledge of truck mechanics Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training Experience & Knowledge Needed 1–2 years of CDL truck driving experience preferred Front Load truck driving experience preferred Waste industry experience, a plus Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday Frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a maximum of 50 lbs Rarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a maximum of 100 lbs Continuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling Frequently climbing and/or balancing Frequently sitting/standing/walking Additional Working Conditions Must have at least a valid Class B CDL Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain prior to hire Must be at least 19 years of age No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas Exposure to residential and commercial waste Ability to travel between offices, as required Ability to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays Legally eligible to work in the United States Valid driver's license (if applicable) Must successfully complete pre-employment testing Must be able to read and speak the English language Education High School (preferred) General Education Diploma (preferred) Equal Opportunity Statement Rumpke Waste and Recycling is committed to equality in all aspects of employment.
