Job Summary

Safe Harbor Regional Navigators connect youth with services and serve as points of contact for their communities. Region 8 (East Metro) is supported by 180 Degrees, this includes the following Minnesota counties: Anoka, Chisago, Dakota, Isanti, Ramsey, and Washington. The Safe Harbor Regional Navigator is the point of contact for youth, educators, service providers, law enforcement, and community members who may be working with a young person who may be sexually exploited.

As part of the No Wrong Door approach, Regional Navigators provide knowledge, skills, and resources to effectively identify sexually exploited and at-risk youth. They treat victims with dignity and respect while recommending supportive services, shelter, and housing that meets their needs. They also provide victim-centered trauma-informed service options.

The Regional Navigator is the Region 8 (East Metro) resource on matters related to sexually exploited youth. This position develops community awareness, connects with community members, and ensures the community is aware of our services. The Regional Navigator increases utilization of supportive services and develops strong partnerships within the community.

This position does not have direct reports. This position is 40 hours per week FTE 1.0, officing at Brittany's Place in St. Paul.

Duties and Responsibilities

Build strong community partnerships to provide knowledge, skills, and resources to sexually exploited and at-risk youth using a trauma-informed, victim-centered approach.

• Build and maintain an effective, coordinated, collaborative, and well-supported safe harbor program with a focus on cultural needs of the population served. Participate in building regional capacity to respond to exploitation.
• Maintain contact and work within the greater region by forging and building relationships with stakeholders; performing ongoing outreach activities; and maintaining a consistent presence at relevant meetings and conferences.
• Co-facilitate quarterly regional meetings with community partners. Expand partnerships through conducting needs assessments, map resources, and identifying gaps in the region. Utilize the data to develop and implement plans to expand resources and increase partnerships.
• Collect, analyze, and report data and information about the work of the Region 8 (East Metro) Regional Navigator to stakeholders, including the Minnesota Department of Health.
• Provide a variety of relevant trainings, technical assistance, information sharing, and consultation to the Region 8 (East Metro) community through a minimum of 12 safe harbor trainings and five hotel trainings per year.

Be the safe harbor point of contact for Region 8 (East Metro).

• Lead and manage the 24/7/365 rotating helpline service, and other methods of accessing and communicating with the Regional Navigator, that serves youth and professionals across the East Metro Region. Answer all helpline service calls Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.
• Regularly communicate with shelters regarding youth who need referral to in-shelter services. Participate in shelter leadership meetings and communicate with shelter Case Managers.
• Provide short-term or crisis services to youth as needed; provide referrals to long-term services and supports.
• Build relationships and connections with service providers, stakeholders, and youth.

Support case management of sexually exploited youth in Region 8 (East Metro).

• Provide case management services, aligning referrals with the appropriately funded position.
• Lead regular case consultations with appropriate community partners and shelter staff while maintaining data privacy.
• Collaborate with the shelter staff to maintain awareness of open beds for safe harbor housing.

Qualifications

• Minimum age: 21.
• Bachelor's degree in social work, social services, psychology, or a related field and five years' experience working in a social service setting; an associate's degree and relevant experience can be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
• Hold a professional license, such as LSW or LPCC strongly preferred.
• Two years of experience related to sexually exploited youth or trauma services preferred.
• Nonprofit experience and experience with Safe Harbor or related grants.
• Valid driver's license and insurance; dependable transportation for traveling to community partners and events; ability to drive company vehicle.
• Ability to clear a Department of Human Services background screening.

This position offices at Brittany's Place and includes frequent travel to community engagements. Must be able to work extended hours for events and special projects when needed.
