SkillBridge Experimental Tech II in GAC Savannah Eligibility: Must be eligible for the DOD SkillBridge Program and remain eligible throughout the program. Unique Skills 2 years experience in aviation, manufacturing, or electronics. Eligibility Requirements: Eligible for the DoD SkillBridge Program and meet all job‑specific education and experience requirements. Preference given for participants able to participate for at least 90 days, up to 180 days. Willing to work the assigned shift. Military service members in a SkillBridge program are not eligible for wages or other benefits. Must have 180 days or fewer remaining before discharge, have completed at least 180 consecutive days of active military service, obtain command approval, and agree that participation may be terminated at any time. Desired Skills Intermediate experience (2–5 years) in one or a combination of the following: Sheetmetal – Cutting, bending, forming, drilling. Aircraft inspection, maintenance, and repair. Machining – Plan, layout, setup, and operation of machinery. Welding – Familiar with metallurgy, metal working, and welding processes/technology. Hydraulic installations/assembly experience. Intermediate understanding of computer software. Basic understanding of Solumina, Catia/Smart Team. Test lab experience. Experience with calibration tools, gauges, meters, instruments, and/or transducers. Machinist II Skills Under close supervision, perform planning, layout, setup, and operation of conventional machinery. Assist and train junior machinists. Tasks include: Setup machines, compute angular dimensions, locate reference lines, center points, and lines. Plan sequence of operations. Determine proper cutting tools. Select proper speed and feeds. Perform complex machining tasks. Check own work for conformance using precision measuring equipment. Maintain a clean and safe environment. Sheetmetal Welder Skills Perform a variety of metal joining processes and basic metal working tasks. Responsibilities: Fabricate and install components as directed. Remove, refurbish, modify, and reinstall components as directed. Fabricate aircraft components requested by technicians or customers. Research materials and processes, ensuring compliance with ANSI, AWS, FAA, Gulfstream, and other standards. Complete required internal and FAA paperwork. Use power and hand tools for cutting, forming, and preparing pieces for welding. Use existing systems to manage labor, work orders, picklists, purchase requisitions, and sign off work orders. Additional Duties Perform other duties as assigned. Other Requirements Familiar with ANSI, AWS, and other pertinent process specifications. Basic math skills. Knowledge of metallurgy, metal working procedures, and welding processes for aircraft applications. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Education and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED required. 2 years experience in aviation, manufacturing, or electronics. Position Purpose Under limited to direct supervision, perform operation activities in support of experimental, structural, and flammability testing. Operation activities could utilize skillsets related to sheet metal, instrumentation/electrical, fabrication, calibrations, hydraulic/pneumatics, large structural elements, test execution, etc. Job Description – Essential Functions Assemble and maintain complex test lab fixture and equipment. Assemble, inspect, and repair complex test articles and specimens. Assist with test executions. Comply with safety rules and procedures; use protective equipment and address unsafe conditions. Understand the experimental test process and internal lab SOPs and WMs. Show basic knowledge in systems and capabilities used throughout the lab. Communicate as required to receive and understand work assignments; coordinate directly with test engineering when necessary. Provide status updates to direct supervisor regarding progress or assistance needed. Additional Functions Ensure all work meets quality standards and specifications. Follow standard operating procedures when operating company and lab equipment. Apply 6S and Lean initiatives to keep shops, hangars, and aircraft work areas clean and uncluttered. Implement and apply Lean/continuous improvement processes to all areas of responsibility. Properly use and maintain company‑provided tools and equipment; return items after use. Additional Requirements Proficient in blueprint reading/interpretation and shop mathematics. Experience with basic hand tools. Experience with CAD packages and planning systems.
