We have a fantastic opportunity for a Nursing Coordinator Quality and Performance Improvement to join our staff and be part of the exciting growth happening at Mount Vernon Hospital.
Position Summary:
Manages clinical data tracking, drives patient safety projects, and ensures hospital units meet national nursing quality standards. Core duties involve tracking the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), conducting chart audits, and leading performance improvement plans. Ensures adherence to health standards, evaluates clinical procedures, and monitors patient care for quality improvement. Understands Magnet Recognition designation and can collaborate with nursing leadership to implement and monitor best practices.
Essential Functions- NDNQI Data Management: Collects, enters, and analyzes clinical data for NDNQI benchmarks like falls, pressure injuries, and catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs).
- Performance Improvement: Leads quality projects, root cause analyses (RCAs), and failure mode and effects analyses (FMEAs) to fix gaps in care.
- Compliance and Audits: Performs patient chart reviews and unit rounds to maintain readiness for groups like The Joint Commission. Review and analyze patient care records for compliance and improvement opportunities
- Implement quality assurance programs across medical departments
- Review and analyze patient care records for compliance and improvement opportunities
- Train healthcare staff on updated clinical methodologies and standards
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess quality improvement initiatives
- Prepare reports on quality metrics for organizational review
- Monitor and evaluate health outcomes against established benchmarks
- Advise on regulatory compliance regarding healthcare standards
Qualifications
- BSN Required
- Masters Preferred
- Registered Nurse New York - New York State Board of Nursing Required
- 3 to 5 years of acute care clinical nursing required
- 1 to 3 years in healthcare quality, data analysis, or chart auditing preferred.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) is often preferred and/or willing to obtain within 18 months of hire.
