Who We Are: North Alabama Shoals Hospital is a 198-bed general acute care facility boasting spacious, private rooms for all patients, a 24-hour emergency department, medical and oncology services; medical/surgical inpatient units; and short-stay surgery units. Shoals also operates the region's only in-patient acute rehabilitation facility, the J. W. Sommer Rehabilitation Unit, and the Shoals Senior Care Center, the Shoals' only psychiatric unit dedicated to our senior adults. Reports to the Director of Laboratory Services. Essential Functions Performs common testing procedures and reports test results accurately. Conducts instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Performs quality control testing to ensure accuracy and compliance. Maintains supplies and equipment necessary for testing. Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Information Patient Populations Served: Does not directly treat or care for patients. Protected Health Information Accessed: Demographic, Clinical, Insurance, Financial, Complete Medical Record. Exposure: Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is present for all employees. Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting, computer/data entry, and instrument handling; occasional standing, walking, and light lifting. Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Education: Associate's Degree in Science required. License: /Certifications: MLT certification through ASCP or AMT preferred.
