Locums Trauma/General Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a full-time locum tenens Trauma/General Surgery opportunity in Midland, Michigan. This is an ongoing inpatient assignment with a consistent 7-on/7-off night schedule and no call responsibilities.

Position Highlights

Setting: Inpatient

Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off

Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (Monday–Sunday)

No call

Holiday coverage required only if it falls during your scheduled work week

Ongoing assignment

Clinical Responsibilities

Manage inpatient admissions and consults for trauma, general surgery, and urology

Respond to Level I and Level II trauma activations

Perform admissions, history & physicals, and surgical consults

Serve as the first-call provider for inpatient surgical services, including:

General Surgery

Trauma

Orthopedics

Urology

Colorectal Surgery

Evaluate trauma and general surgery patients and collaborate with the on-call surgeon

Manage urology admissions and consults

Assist with Foley catheter troubleshooting, continuous bladder irrigation, and bedside urologic procedures

Board surgical cases as appropriate

Required Procedural Skills

Candidates must be proficient in:

Suturing

Central line placement

Arterial line placement

Chest tube placement

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with Trauma and General Surgery experience

Active Michigan license (required)

Current ACLS and ATLS certifications from the American Heart Association
