Service Project Manager

Job Description The Service Project Manager is responsible for managing large, complex inter-disciplinary projects for Smiths security equipment products and third‑party activities. These projects span multiple functional areas and involve several departments from both the Business and Technology teams. The role requires stakeholder management, product development life cycle (PDLC) best practices, and rigorous project/program definition, implementation, and deployment processes. Core responsibilities include: Ensure all workers adhere to applicable safety standards. Collaborate with services, programs, and customers to assemble a feasible project plan. Lead and motivate a cross‑functional project team in a matrix organization to accomplish project goals and deliverables. Prioritize team efforts and find resourceful ways to complete tasks on time in a constrained environment. Understand revenue models, profit & loss, and cost‑to‑completion projections. Accurately forecast project milestones and revenue to reduce labor cost. Create and manage project plans and schedules that meet internal and external customer needs. Proactively identify and manage program risks. Ensure project team members understand their roles and responsibilities. Establish contingency plans and identify trigger events for corrective action. Manage project schedules and budgets, delivering revenue and deliverables on schedule. Oversee deployment, relocation, and decommissioning of field service security equipment. Communicate project status and priorities to the team, upper management, customers, and stakeholders. Provide statement of work comments and cost estimate input for proposals when needed. Provide ad‑hoc reporting and analysis as directed by management. Identify revenue sources and consult with senior management and directors on opportunities. Work with service managers and program managers to allocate field resources for project work. Control and minimize costs while maximizing revenue. Accept additional project and program tasks as directed. Comply with all applicable export control and security regulations. Maintain required government clearance(s). Other duties as required. Promote all relevant legal requirements, Smiths policies, and procedures, including business ethics, data protection, and health & safety. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or five years of deployment management experience or extensive field deployment experience. Program Management Professional certification (PMI/PMP) preferred; if not held, must be willing to obtain PMP within two years. Minimum five years of direct business experience with TSA ILS/SESI programs and/or projects. Advanced knowledge of project management and business analysis tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Project, and Visio. Working knowledge of CAS compliance and safety regulations. Demonstrated knowledge of PMBOK/PMI methodologies. Proven project management skills – scheduling, on‑time delivery, stakeholder management. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and negotiation skills. Proficiency in task estimation, resource scheduling, risk management, and issue management. Resourceful problem solving, analytical, and decision‑making abilities. Ability to recognize and pursue potential sales leads. Capacity to work under pressure and within tight deadlines. Team player, adaptable to changing environments, and capable of multi‑tasking. Ability to coordinate with third‑party vendors beyond contractual requirements. Ability to support field service operations when needed (e.g., bearing replacements, equipment movement safety). Background checks may be required for Sensitive Security Information (SSI) access and a U.S. Personal Security Clearance.
