Surgical Director for Pediatric Liver Transplantation

Northwell Transplant Institute is seeking a full-time Abdominal Transplant Surgeon with a strong background in Pediatric Liver Transplantation to serve as Surgical Director for Pediatric Liver Transplantation. The successful candidate will partner with an established Pediatric Transplant Hepatology team at Cohen's Children's Medical Center, providing comprehensive care for children with both transplant and non-transplant liver diseases. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a leading pediatric teaching hospital and a nationally recognized transplant institute.

Practice Info

• The Transplant Institute offers comprehensive adult transplant services for heart, lung, kidney, and liver.
• The Transplant Institute currently offers the only pediatric heart transplant program on Long Island as well as an established pediatric kidney transplant program.
• The multidisciplinary team is based at Cohen's Children's Medical Center, the largest pediatric teaching hospital in the region.
• Cohen Children's Medical Center is the tertiary pediatric medical center of the Northwell Health System and the only Level-1 Pediatric Trauma Center on Long Island.
• The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, liver disease and nutrition at Cohen Children's treats a wide variety of pediatric gastrointestinal, liver and nutritional disorders.
• Transplant procedures are performed at North Shore University Hospital and Cohen Children's Medical Center.

Requirements

• Completed ASTS approved fellowship training in Abdominal Transplant Surgery
• Preferred fellowship training in Pediatric Liver Transplantation Hepatobiliary Surgery
• Candidates with significant focus in pediatric abdominal transplant surgery without advanced pediatric transplant/hepatobiliary surgery fellowship may be considered
• At least 2 years post-fellowship experience
• Proven track record of clinical excellence and surgical proficiency
• Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
