Quality Specialist Inspector

Job Overview Johnson Service Group is looking for a Quality Specialist Inspector with 5+ years of progressive quality inspection experience in aerospace, medical devices, or industrial manufacturing. Experience conducting or supporting customer and supplier audits is required. This is a Temp‑Direct job for an Aerospace company in Chatsworth, CA. Salary: $36.00/hr. Schedule: Monday–Friday, either 7:00a.m.–3:30p.m. or 8:00a.m.–4:30p.m. The Quality Specialist Inspector plays a critical role in maintaining and elevating product and process compliance across the supply chain. This position is responsible for advanced levels of inspection and requires the ability to conduct external and internal audits, manage supplier and customer quality interactions, and support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires advanced computer literacy and working knowledge of industry quality standards such as AS9100, ISO9001, and SAE documentation. Unlike a Final Inspector, who focuses on in‑house part conformity and outbound visual/dimensional inspections, the Customer/Supplier Advanced Quality Inspector operates at a system and compliance level, ensuring that suppliers meet contractual requirements, customers remain confident in quality processes, and compliance audits are passed. Essential Responsibilities & Duties Support customer and supplier audits in a variety of roles; prepare documentation and audit findings. Manage daily customer claims and quality‑related issues through customer portals, ensuring resolution within 48 hours when needed. Investigate and resolve customer rejections, waivers, defective parts per million (DPPM), and returned materials. Interpret customer quality requirements, specifications, and flowdowns; communicate to internal teams. Collaborate with suppliers and customers to address non‑conforming parts, initiate corrective actions, and support supplier‑driven rejections. Quarantine defective materials, ensure timely disposition, and initiate containment. Maintain and track monthly customer quality ratings and performance metrics. Disposition final rejections and customer RMAs. Write and maintain customer‑specific quality procedures and contribute to internal process improvements. Perform first‑article inspections (FAIs) to AS9102 standards. Support inspection teams by providing interpretation of specifications and complex requirements. Provide hands‑on inspection support using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, optical comparators, etc.). Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA). Process and close internal quality notifications and customer claims. Generate and report metrics including rejection rates, DPPM, and audit findings. Review quality notifications and support disposition decisions. Assist in final inspection duties when required. Coordinate and support third‑party and customer audits. Evaluate audit findings, develop response plans, and ensure follow‑through. Maintain compliance with AS9100, ISO9001, and SAE standards (e.g., AS5553, AS6174). Collaborate cross‑functionally to resolve systemic quality issues and improve documentation integrity. Lead or support supplier corrective action response processes. Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. Interact professionally with other employees, customers, and suppliers. Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments. Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations. Follow company safety policies and procedures. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of progressive quality inspection experience in aerospace, medical device, or industrial manufacturing. Experience conducting or supporting customer and supplier audits is required. 2–5 years of direct aerospace fastener experience. 2+ years of general physical inspection experience. 3+ years of advanced quality inspections, auditing, and test experience. Experience and proficiency with implementation of corrective action programs. Technical skills: expert in GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and quality document evaluation. Proficient with ERP systems (e.g., SAP), QMS platforms, and Microsoft Excel/PowerBI. Familiar with SAE quality standards and customer compliance requirements. Soft skills: strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, effective communication. Ability to lead investigations, coordinate between departments, and represent the company externally. Organized and efficient under deadlines and complex demands. Licenses/Certifications: AS9100 Internal Auditor, ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Quality Auditor (CQA), or similar credentials highly preferred. Delegated source inspector certification is a plus. Certifications in Six Sigma a plus. Additional Information Work Environment & Physical Requirements: Warehouse and various supplier/customer site environments; must be able to lift 30–50lbs and perform physical inspections.
