Summary:
The Floor Technician performs basic activities related to the cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of facility flooring and common areas. Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive environment through proper floor care procedures and equipment operation.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:
One year experience in floor care, janitorial services, or building maintenance preferred.

Job Functions:

• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of carpet, tile, vinyl, concrete, and hardwood flooring.
• Operates floor care equipment including buffers, burnishers, scrubbers, extractors, and vacuums.
• Strips, waxes, buffs, polishes, and refinishes floors according to facility standards.
• Cleans and shampoos carpets and removes stains from flooring surfaces.
• Monitors floor conditions and reports maintenance or safety concerns to supervisor.
• Maintains cleaning equipment and ensures supplies are properly stored and stocked.
• Follows infection control, OSHA, and safety procedures while handling chemicals and equipment.
• Places safety signs and barriers in work areas to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Assists with general housekeeping and facility cleaning duties as needed.
• Maintains daily logs and documentation related to floor maintenance activities.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of floor care techniques, cleaning chemicals, and equipment operation.
• Knowledge of OSHA and other safety requirements.
• Ability to safely operate buffers, burnishers, auto scrubbers, and other floor care equipment.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents, visitors, and staff at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment and supplies as required.
