About Golden Valley Environmental

Golden Valley Environmental is a California-based environmental consulting company specializing in LDAR, air compliance, regulatory inspections, emissions monitoring, and compliance support for oil and gas operators throughout California.

We are currently seeking an Environmental Compliance Technician I to join our growing team. This is an entry-level field position with hands-on training provided. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, safety-minded, and interested in building a career in environmental compliance.

Position Summary

The Environmental Compliance Technician I will assist with field inspections, LDAR monitoring, leak documentation, repair tracking, and environmental compliance support at oil and gas facilities. This position requires outdoor field work, travel to client sites, accurate recordkeeping, and the ability to work around industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections at oil and gas production facilities, tank settings, compressor stations, and related sites
  • Assist with LDAR inspections using Method 21 and optical gas imaging equipment
  • Identify, document, and track leaking components
  • Complete field forms, inspection notes, photos, and digital records
  • Support repair verification and follow-up inspections
  • Assist project managers with compliance schedules, reports, and inspection documentation
  • Use tablets, mobile apps, and internal tracking systems to document field work
  • Follow all company, client, and site-specific safety requirements
  • Travel to various client locations throughout California as needed

Qualifications

  • No prior environmental compliance experience required; training will be provided
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, climb, and work around industrial equipment
  • Comfortable using tablets, mobile apps, and basic computer programs
  • Must be dependable, professional, and willing to learn
  • Oilfield, refinery, mechanical, construction, safety, or inspection experience is a plus

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in oil and gas, industrial, construction, or environmental settings
  • Basic understanding of tools, valves, tanks, piping, or facility equipment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good organizational skills and accurate documentation habits

Compensation

Pay is competitive and based on experience. Final compensation will depend on qualifications, field experience, and training level.

Work Location

  • This position is based out of the Bakersfield, CA area, with field work at client sites throughout California. Some travel may be required.
