As the technical administrator for the library's Ex Libris Alma and Primo platforms, you'll configure and optimize cloud-based library systems, support integrations with campus applications, and partner with Library faculty, CSU colleagues, and vendors to deliver reliable, user-focused services that support teaching, learning, and research. Key Responsibilities: Library Systems Administration Configure, maintain, and enhance Ex Libris Alma, Primo, and related library services. Implement configuration changes to support Library operations and evolving campus needs. Develop documentation, test new features, and provide guidance on library system functionality. Systems Integration & Support Support integrations between library systems and campus enterprise applications, including identity management and authentication services. Troubleshoot system, integration, and data synchronization issues to ensure reliable access to library resources. Coordinate with Library staff, campus IT teams, and CSU partners to resolve technical issues and implement new functionality. Partner with Ex Libris, vendors, and CSU colleagues to evaluate enhancements, coordinate testing, and improve system performance. Develop reports, analyze system data, and identify opportunities to improve workflows and business processes. Contribute to ongoing enhancements that strengthen library technologies and the user experience. This position is designated as exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. This position is eligible for telecommuting up to 2 days per week, following a training period during which on-site presence is required. Department Summary Division IT Operations serves as the primary technology partner for the division, working closely with leadership and staff to support day-to-day technology needs and advance strategic priorities. The unit collaborates with the IT Division to ensure the effective delivery of IT services, timely resolution of technology issues, and clear communication of divisional goals, requirements, and priorities. By maintaining a comprehensive understanding of how technology is used across the division, Division IT Operations helps align technology solutions with operational, administrative, and service needs. Through strategic planning, coordination, and support, the unit enables the division to operate efficiently, adapt to evolving technology needs, and achieve its mission effectively. The mission of the Information Technology Division is to develop the long-term infrastructure, services, and strategy necessary to support the University’s mission of learning, discovery, and engagement. The IT Division has the stewardship responsibility for core IT assets on campus and the obligation to provide the services, training, and community building necessary to realize the benefits of those investments across the San Diego State University community. Education and Experience Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Additional experience which demonstrates acquired and successfully applied knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Key Qualifications Experience supporting or administering library systems (e.g., Alma, Primo, or other integrated library systems) or comparable enterprise platforms. Experience working with data analysis, reporting, or analytics tools. Experience supporting system integrations, data workflows, or data exchange technologies (e.g., XML, JSON, APIs, or similar). Demonstrated ability to support system configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing enhancements. Experience providing technical training, documentation, or user support in a professional environment. Preferred: Experience working in an academic library or higher education environment. Experience with Ex Libris Alma, Primo, or other library services platforms. Experience with enterprise authentication, reporting, analytics, scripting, or automation technologies (e.g., SSO, Shibboleth, SAML, Python, SQL, or similar). Experience participating in cross-functional technical projects involving technical and non-technical stakeholders. Compensation and Benefits San Diego State University offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth. Compensation: Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience, in alignment with the department’s budget and equity guidelines. Initial step placement is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($6,492/month). Salary step placement for internal applicants will follow the CSUEU Collective Bargaining Agreement. CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,492-$9,458 per month (Step 1-Step 20). Future increases, including step advancements, are subject to contract negotiations.
