Software Engineer - New York

Salary: $123,000 - 163,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• 4+ years of hands-on Java experience, including Java 11+ and Spring Boot 3+
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Strong background with relational databases such as SQL Server or MySQL
• Experience with NoSQL technologies, including MongoDB and Elasticsearch
• Experience designing and implementing ETL or data-processing pipelines for large datasets
• Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Postman, or SOAP UI
• Proficiency with Git and build tools such as Gradle or Maven
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
• Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
• Experience in Agile development environments
• Preferred: experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Preferred: experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Preferred: knowledge of microservices architecture and distributed systems
• Preferred: exposure to machine learning, artificial intelligence, or predictive analytics solutions
• Preferred: experience supporting analytics, visualization, or data-intensive applications
• Preferred: background in public sector, public safety, law enforcement, or similar industries

• Design, develop, and support scalable APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Build and refine data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows
• Develop and improve search capabilities using Elasticsearch and related tools
• Partner with cross-functional teams to turn business needs into technical solutions
• Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and security
• Create and maintain data pipelines that support analytics and reporting applications
• Take part in code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD activities to deliver high-quality work
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the application stack
• Contribute to architectural decisions and ongoing improvement efforts
• Stay up to date on new technologies and best practices
