General Assembly

Job Summary Perform various assembly‑related operations involving electronic, electro‑mechanical and mechanical components, sub‑assemblies and final assembly levels. This can include strain gage bonding, wiring and soldering, test, potting, general mechanical assembly and other related tasks. Essential Functions Read and comprehend drawings, work‑aids and safety documents. Build sub‑assemblies and finished goods using hand tools, power tools and fixtures. Operate a variety of power tools, hand tools, and small hoist and other lift assist devices. Retrieve parts from floor or overhead. Package and stock completed products. Key Duties Accurately maintain inventory levels and locations utilizing first‑in, first‑out best practices. Practice good safety and housekeeping skills, including active participation in the 5S program and continuous improvement activities. Periodically work with hazardous materials (Safety Data Sheets on file). May be assigned to different product lines as deemed necessary by management to meet customer and/or company objectives. Utilize hands‑on training and follow company‑approved documentation tools (i.e., work aids, drawings, etc.) to fulfill assembly related tasks. Assist in directing workflow and training of others as required by the team leader. Communicate collaboratively with team members. Demonstrate sufficient technical and quality proficiency. Complete paperwork requirements and computer data input functions. Work at a variety of workstations and on a variety of products. Report equipment maintenance issues. Meet objectives outlined in the Safety Policy. Knowledge, Skills, and Education Qualifications Knowledge: Basic knowledge of a computer and keyboarding experience helpful. Basic math skills. Skills: Strong time management skills, problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, communication skills, and personal interaction skills are essential. Basic soldering skills. Abilities: Ability to comprehend detailed data from work orders, work aids, blueprints and sales orders; good training retention; must be able to collaborate with team members in a positive manner; strong work ethic and self‑motivation with minimal supervision; quality oriented. Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Specialized Training Avery Weigh‑Tronix soldering standard, as required. ESD, as required. Hoist training (if applicable). Forklift training (if applicable). Environmental health and safety. Certification for specific jobs (if applicable). Pay Range $17.75 - $20.65 per hour. Physical Requirements Regularly required to sit, talk or hear. Consistently use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Occasionally required to stand, walk, lift, and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include normal vision. Above‑average dexterity and hand‑eye coordination. Continuous grasping and pinching actions with both hands throughout the workday. Ability to complete highly repetitive duties. Ability to work an 8‑10 hour shift. Ability to physically move or assist in moving equipment. Flexibility to sit, stand, walk, climb, kneel, crouch, or crawl for 0‑100% of time depending on task. Use of hands 100% of time. Reach of hands and arms 80%+ of time. Lifting up to 10 lbs 33%‑90% of time; up to 25 lbs 5%‑10% of time; up to 50 lbs up to 5% of time. Able to wear safety (steel‑ or composite‑toed) shoes and eye and hearing protection during entire shift.
