Starting wage is $21.00 an hour. This role covers a large breadth and depth of electronic assembly tasks, processes, soldering, machine operation, material uses, operating equipment, and hand tools. Employees must be able to learn and grow within the manufacturing team. The Electronic Assembler will work on products that support production goals on a variety of products and processes. Depending on the employee’s ability, more complex processes and machine duties may be assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform work as directed by assembly documentation – must read, interpret and follow assembly drawings, instructions, work order travelers and operation instructions. Identify deficiencies in documentation and recommend changes. Maintain assembly documentation – correctly fill in records of conformance, daily logs and equipment use and maintenance logs as trained. Maintain current solder skills training – maintain IPC J-STD-001 certification and apply solder skills to all levels of product assembly in conformance with standards. Hand assembly – load hardware and components onto PWBs, install hardware into metal parts, route wires, install sub‑assemblies, hand solder, and touch‑up PWBs in conformance with standards. Identify and determine value of components – understand component color codes, identify components, read and determine values. Use torque tools in assembly – use torque tools properly, recognize and adjust for proper torque value. Perform rework – perform in‑process and test rework at pre‑encapsulation level as instructed. Component cleaning process – operate cleaning equipment including vapor degreaser, aqueous board washer, jet clean, deionized water washer and Omega meter test equipment. Employee training – support the company training plan by assisting in the training of other assemblers. Maintain assembly work areas – maintain assembly equipment, area cleanliness and orderly appearance. Notify supervision and engineering of equipment needs. Comply with safety procedures – observe safe practices and support their implementation. Comply with requirements for safe use, storage and disposal of hazardous materials. Ability to work flexible hours and/or different shifts as required. Adhere to regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, State and Federal Regulations). Arrive to work on time and work each scheduled day. Perform other duties as assigned. Potential Advanced Duties and Responsibilities Support flow line / cell lead skills (if trained) – monitor workflow, act as senior peer to direct tasks, assist scheduling of assembly activities. Advance technical soldering skills (if trained) – demonstrate advanced skills on complex surface‑mount, magnetics, thermal‑plane and through‑hole applications. Advance product assembly skills (if trained) – quickly and correctly perform unique assembly or soldering tasks on new products, validate workmanship quality, support engineering, support NPI production. Selective solder operation (if trained) – operate selective solder software, maintain machine, troubleshoot, rework defects. Wave solder operation (if trained) – operate wave solder machine, adjust parameters, perform maintenance. Magnetic bobbin winder & inductor winder (if trained) – operate indicated winders. Encapsulation process (if trained) – assemble encapsulation using silicone, epoxy, urethane; mix materials; follow instructions; recognize deficiencies. Conformal coating process (if trained) – prepare PCB, mask, mix and apply coatings, verify thickness, use respirator. Feeder setup and programming (if trained) – set up Panasonic feeders for various sizes. Operation of pick and place system (if trained) – initiate automatic operation, inspect loading. Basic pick and place troubleshooting (if trained) – recognize discrepancies, stop production if needed. Panasonic software and hardware tools (if trained) – use material control, PanaCIM, P‑10 scanner. Operation of manual and automatic stencil printers (SPG) (if trained) – set up, use, clean, adjust. Operation of solder paste inspection (SPI) (if trained) – set up, use, monitor. Operation of solder deposit machine (if trained) – set up, use, monitor. Reflow oven operation (if trained) – select menu, monitor, verify profiles, adjust conveyors. Pre‑reflow AOI (if trained) – set up, run, detect defects before reflow. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience High School diploma or GED 3 years experience preferred in electronics manufacturing Follow detailed assembly drawings, bill of materials (BOMs) and assembly instructions Computer skills to support timekeeping and accessing data in MRP/ERP system Computer skills for machine operation and production execution Computer skills to navigate and extract information from MRP/ERP to view BOMs, prints, assembly instructions Able to maintain productivity in standard hours Manual dexterity to effectively use hand tools while performing assembly tasks Mechanical ability to operate assembly equipment Strong work ethic and organizational skills to meet demands of fast‑paced work environment under production schedules Physical Requirements Work within a factory environment, including moderate noise and chemical odors Moving between sitting, standing and walking Consistently lifting and handling up to 10 pounds and periodically lifting up to 25 pounds Specific vision abilities required for hand soldering and wiring of assemblies; correction allowed with prescription Salary: $21.00 Hourly Rantec is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
