Pre-Procedural Evaluations Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) Location: Inova 8260 Willow Oaks, Fairfax, VA, United States Inova Health System seeks either a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in our Pre-Procedural Evaluation Clinic. The clinic functions as a hybrid of primary care and an emergency department, where providers evaluate patients quickly to ensure they are optimized for upcoming procedures and anesthesia. Each patient is new; providers independently evaluate and manage them, with an attending anesthesiologist available on site daily for consults. Coordination and communication with a wide range of providers and departments are essential. Providers are responsible for continued care of patients until the day of their procedure. Work/Life Balance: Offering paid time off and paid parental leave Preoperative Medicine Advanced Practice Provider Job Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive appraisals of patients' health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations in the clinic. Provide direct clinical care to patients. Prescribe or order medications, therapies; order and interpret laboratory tests, x-rays and procedures according to clinical privileges. Provide comprehensive teaching to patients and families. Document all care, education provided and/or procedures performed in the medical record. Refer to other disciplines as appropriate; serve as consultant to other disciplines in areas of expertise, integrating research-based knowledge and clinical expertise in decision making. Advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the community. Minimum Qualifications Work schedule: 8 hour shifts Monday through Friday. Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program with a minimum of 2 years’ experience. Board Certified Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Maintains necessary CME requirements. Licensed or eligible for licensing as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Active or eligible for DEA license. BLS and ACLS for Critical Care. Preferred Qualifications One or more years of experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. Experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an Inpatient, Surgical, or Critical Care setting.
