Job Title: Federal College Work Study-Student (Testing) Location: Laredo, Texas Salary: $8.00 hourly Job Type: Student Worker Job Summary Assist the department staff and perform general office duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Handles routine office inquiries from employees and students. Assists in the day-to-day maintenance and responsibilities of the assigned department. Responsible for clerical functions including answering phones, filing, scheduling, organizing, etc. Other related duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Scanning and managing financial records/documents. Maintaining office supplies inventory. Assist with records retention. Minimum Requirements Enrolled at least half‑time, 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduates. Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students. Must have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid. Must demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA application annually. Must be a U.S. citizen, or permanent resident, or have an alien registration number—or be an eligible non‑citizen. Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficiency in use of personal computer workstation with common software applications. Ability to organize and multitask functions to ensure compliance with deadlines. Outstanding customer service skills. Excellent interpersonal relationship and communication skills. Problem analysis and problem‑solving skills. Ability to learn and use multiple software programs. Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but ensure it does not conflict with class schedule. Promptly complete all required trainings. Submit time sheet biweekly. Subject to funding and/or need. Pay of Rate: $8.00/hour for up to 19 hours weekly All positions are security-sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution’s procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check. Eligibility for Student Employment Undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours per semester of college‑level courses or accepted remedial courses. International undergraduate students must be enrolled in at least 12 semester credit hours to meet the federal immigration guidelines. Must maintain a 2.0 TAMIU overall GPA. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours per semester. International graduate students must enroll in 9 semester credit hours to meet the federal immigration guidelines. Must maintain a 3.0 TAMIU overall GPA. Students who are graduating may enroll for less than half time for their final semester. Must submit proof of graduation.
