Registered Ultrasound Technologist
Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH)
Overview Performs ultrasound imaging studies in accordance with physician orders and departmental guidelines. Prepares and transports patients as necessary. Prepares imaging equipment, room, and images as needed for interpretation. Verifies and completes studies in RIS and PACS. Maintains quality control of equipment as instructed. Responsibilities Performs exams such as abdominal echoes, renal, aortic, thyroid, pelvic, obstetrical, biophysical profiles, vascular studies, testicular, and breast studies; color flow and Doppler studies, renal biopsies and fluid collections of localized areas. Checks all images with the radiologist and consults regarding the reading of scans and reports. Provides written, unofficial reports of examinations. Takes representative anatomical pictures, recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy, and exhibits knowledge of various pathological processes. Marks images for proper definition and explanation. Is available for on‑call status as needed. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job‑related hazards. Follows hospital exposure control plans for bloodborne and airborne pathogens. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Promotes effective working relations and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter‑ and intradepartmentally to facilitate the department’s/unit’s ability to meet its goals and objectives. Qualifications Education (experience can be substituted for education): Associate’s Degree in Sonography from an approved program. OR Associate Degree in Radiology from an approved program, minimally required. Work Experience (education can be substituted for experience): Up to 1 year preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Basic computer skills. Must be able to meet hospital on‑call requirements. Licenses and Certifications: Registered or Registry eligible in Ultrasound, with requirement to become Registered within 18 months. CPR required. #J-18808-Ljbffr Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH)
