About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Observation Unit (MedSurg) Duration: 24 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Valid RN License Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with common titratable and/or set rate drips. Description: This is a fast-paced unit with a high turnover rate. The unit handles discharges or admissions frequently, with up to 16 discharges per day. RNs are responsible for conducting their own EKGs and drawing their own labs. There is a charge nurse who may occasionally take on patients. The ratio is typically 1:5 or 1:6. Nurse aides are available. The unit is heavily monitored for telemetry, with RNs responsible for reading strips. There is no ventilator equipment involved. Self-scheduling or block scheduling is not permitted. Weekend requirements involve working every other weekend. Holiday requirements rotate with permanent staff. Floating to med-surg units may be required. Scrub color and dress code include Caribbean Blue tops and bottoms, or white tops with Caribbean Blue bottoms, or all white attire. This position requires strong experience in a medical observation setting. Candidates should be prepared for a dynamic and potentially challenging work environment.
