Storage Specialist

The storage specialist will maintain systemic storage bin locations in WMS by verifying that they accurately match the dimensions and characteristics of the physical storage location, follow the approved naming schema, are properly labeled and marked, and are accurately represented on the associated planograph drawing with the Government Storage Analyst. The specialist will also identify occupied locations in WMS that fall below 50% density (measured as volume in WMS) and direct re-warehousing that reduces multiple locations for the same materiel, increases overall density for the distribution center, improves pick time for faster moving materiel, and results in additional vacant locations for new inductions.

Essential Functions of the Position

• Must possess the ability to create and analyze various warehouse storage plans
• Ensures effectiveness of storage plans prior to delivering to government for input into the CAD system, this includes evaluating space utilization, material flow, and accessibility, and making necessary adjustments to optimize the proposed layout
• Effectively communicates both written and orally to both government and contractor personnel to facilitate re-warehousing efforts
• Maintain systemic storage bin locations in WMS.
• Verify that they accurately match the dimensions and characteristics of the physical storage location.
• Ensure storage bins are added, modified, and removed in a timely manner to efficiently facilitate other distribution center processes.
• Ensure created storage bins follow the approved naming schema, are properly labeled and marked, and are accurately represented on the associated planography drawing in coordination with the Government Storage Analyst.
• Specialist will also identify occupied locations in WMS that fall below 50% density (measured as volume in WMS) and direct re-warehousing that reduces multiple locations for the same materiel.
• Increases overall density for the distribution center.
• Improve pick time for faster moving materiel, and results in additional vacant locations for new inductions.
• The Storage Specialist will be responsible for ensuring material is stowed on time in properly sized locations that is appropriate for the material in accordance with SOPs and acceptable performance levels.
• The Storage Specialist will analyze storage locations to ensure the distribution center has sufficient space to complete stows of new inductions and bin to bin transactions of existing stock.
• The Storage Specialist will work closely with the Government Storage Analyst to make recommendations on redesign of bulk locations to maximize the use of storage space.
• The Storage Specialist will prepare and submit the Storage Space Management Report (SSMR) semi-annually or as often as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience shall include a minimum of 3 years of experience in warehouse operations like the size and complexity to the operations offered in this contract.
• Experience will include a minimum of 2 years of experience using automated warehouse management systems or equivalent within the past 5 years.
• Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
• Must have warehousing experience.
• Must have forklift experience.
• Must have the ability to multitask and demonstrate diligence.
• Must be dependable, responsible, and fulfill obligations.
• Must have a valid California Driver's License.

Security Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must have an active secret security clearance or be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• Must be able to pass a National Background Check
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Base access and the Common Access Card (CAC)

Supervisory Responsibilities

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands

• Required to walk, stand, sit, and move about the property for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

Work Environment

• Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible.
• Noise level can range from minimal to intense.
