All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis. Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, as well as mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment across modalities of the courses assigned, including face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or within the context of dual credit instruction. Hours vary by need and course schedule and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures. Required Education All faculty members must provide minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) credential standards, normally including an earned Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester credit hours in the teaching discipline. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Faculty are expected to provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation. They should provide timely feedback to students, respond to student communications promptly, assess student performance, and submit final grades in a timely fashion. Faculty should maintain ethical and professional behavior, be available to students by appointment, attend adjunct faculty meetings, assess courses on departmental and institutional levels, complete required training, and perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; provide instruction that achieves specific goals and objectives; create a professional and effective learning environment; communicate effectively with students, college personnel, peers, and public groups; treat all persons with respect, dignity, and justice; exercise the highest professional and ethical standards; and observe College policies and procedures.
