Job DescriptionCivil Project Manager (Travel)Job DescriptionThe Civil Project Manager manages one or more projects and is accountable for meeting financial, schedule, quality, and safety objectives. Key responsibilities include contract administration, scheduling, planning, cost control, and coordination with jobsite supervision to ensure each project is completed safely and in accordance with its design, budget, and schedule. The Project Manager also coordinates with the Superintendent on labor, equipment, subcontractors, material suppliers, and construction methods to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The Project Manager is also responsible for building effective relationships and problem solving with the project team members, general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors. This position is office and field based with some travel to job sites and client meetings.The incumbent must support the guiding beliefs and core values of the Company, which are centered on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Teamwork (each of equal weight and importance) but, most importantly, with each built upon the all-important foundation of Integrity.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure that the project is performed safely while meeting the budget, schedule, quality standards, and design specifications.Understanding of Geotechnical Specifications and RequirementsCompletes project billings in a timely manner.Coordinates with Project superintendent managing labor, equipment, subcontractors, and material suppliers.Manages pre-job planning and is responsible for organizing pre-job turnover & planning meetings.Creates and maintains project schedule, monitors and reviews critical path dates and milestone schedules.Coordinates with the Project Engineer to maintain current plans, RFIs, and project documentation in the company’s designated construction management platform.Acts as an interface between the company and the general contractor.Establishes project budgets based on company policy.Maintains Quality Control on assigned project.Coordinates with the project superintendent the activities of subs and suppliers.Manages change orders and RFPs.Prepares Subcontracts and Purchase Orders with appropriate support and oversight.Ensures that foremen and superintendents understand all subcontracts and purchase orders.Is responsible for all written submittals, project reviews and problem resolution with the general contractor, subcontractors & suppliers.Maintains a positive professional working relationship with general contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.Proactively identifies cost- and schedule-related issues and communicates them to the Superintendent and Operations Manager.Verifies and approves invoices from vendors.Provides job progress reports.Completes project closeout and provides final cost and labor productivity data to the estimating department.Aids the estimating department as needed.Manages and trains Project Engineers assigned to the project. POSITION REQUIREMENTSCandidates must be willing to work at remote sites and must have at least five years of relevant experience. A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Business, Soil Sciences, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred. Field experience in heavy civil construction or equivalent work experience is required, along with demonstrated knowledge of project management, scheduling, and estimating.Project management skills, ability to anticipate problems, and recommend solutions.Organizational, time management, and prioritization skills to effectively manage projects.Ability to train, provide guidance, and coach project engineers.Exceptional interpersonal skills and communication skills with the ability to effectively relate to coworkers and clients at all levels.Strong analytical ability to review project financials and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.Critical thinking, decision making, and critical thinking skills.Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), Outlook, Adobe, and industry related software.Ability to perform in high-stress situations and under tight deadlines.Strong leadership skills and ability to establish relationships.Negotiation skills for contracts, subcontracts, and client relations.Ability to mediate grievances, offer solutions, and manage relationships between the field and general contractor.Job DetailsJob Type: Full-timeCategory: Project ManagementSalaried: Salaried
