Registered Nurse (PRN): State Farm Correctional Center Position: Registered Nurse (PRN) at State Farm Correctional Center Location: Powhatan, Virginia Work Type: Wage (Hourly) Pay: $50.00/hour (temporary enhanced hourly rate during critical staffing shortages) Hours: Limited to a maximum of 1,500 hours per agency during the 12‑month period May 1 – April 30, and no more than 29 hours per week on average. No state benefits provided. Responsibilities Provide nursing care within adult correctional institutions using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsibilities include 24‑hour nursing care, telemedicine, chronic care clinics, sick call screenings/triage, medication administration, patient education, basic life‑support and emergency care. Document all pertinent information into the health record while maintaining confidentiality and interfacing with other departments as needed. Delegate tasks, manage workload and work hours, days, and locations as assigned, and provide coverage as needed to meet institutional requirements. May also be assigned to other duties or locations to meet clinical and administrative needs of the Department. Promote evidence‑based nursing care and continue competence through education and certification with a focus on correctional nursing. Qualifications Valid unrestricted Virginia RN license. Recent graduates without a license must schedule NCLEX‑RN exam at the time of application. Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC). Experience in a correctional setting is considered an additional qualification.
