RN Rehabilitation

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Acute Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine unit provides skilled nursing care to a diverse patient population including stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, trauma, orthopedic, neurological, oncology, pediatric, solid organ transplant, and heart failure patients. The role involves clinical and emotional support to patients and families to promote independence, utilizing at least two years of medical-surgical experience and telemetry skills in a fast-paced rehabilitation setting. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to adult and pediatric patients with complex medical and rehabilitative needs.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning tailored to rehabilitation goals.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including therapists, physicians, and social workers to coordinate patient care.
• Offer clinical and emotional encouragement to patients and families throughout the rehabilitation process.
• Monitor telemetry and respond appropriately to changes in patient cardiac status.
• Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
• Participate in unit policy adherence including holiday and weekend coverage as required.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two years medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Telemetry monitoring experience.
• Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Recent pediatric nursing experience.
• Experience working in acute rehabilitation or physical medicine settings.
• Familiarity with electronic health records, preferably EPIC.

Special Considerations:

• Work includes rotating day, evening, and night shifts with 8- and 12-hour durations.
• Shift coverage includes holidays and weekends per unit policy.
• Must be willing to obtain a TB skin test if required.
• Position requires strong communication skills and emotional support capabilities for patients and families.

Scheduling:

• 36 or 48 hours per week with rotating shifts including day, evening, and night schedules.
• Shift assignments follow unit policy and may include weekends and holidays.
