Position Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced healthcare professional for a Med Surg/Telemetry position on the 7th Floor Tower. This contract offers a day shift working a 3x12 hour schedule from 07:00 AM to 07:30 PM, with a length of 13 weeks. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and be prepared to float between various like units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care to a diverse population of post-surgical and medical-surgical patients.
• Monitor patients through the on-site Central Monitoring Unit (CMU).
• Administer medications and manage patient IV lines and devices.
• Maintain accurate patient records using the EPIC charting system.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams including IV, Physical Therapy, and Respiratory Services.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Med Surg/Telemetry setting.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Ability to float to various like units within skill set.
• Commitment to working every other weekend and at least 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day).
• Compact state license must be valid and in hand upon submission.

Unit Information

The Surgical Acute unit provides care to a wide range of post-surgical and telemetry patients. The daily census averages around 29 patients, and our team works collaboratively to ensure high standards of patient care.

• Daily Census: 29 patients
• Number of Beds: 29
• Interdisciplinary Support Teams available, including Pharmacy and Social Services.

Additional Information

This position requires flexibility and a proactive approach to patient care and collaboration with staff. Travel staff may be expected to float between nearby facilities as needed. Strong communication skills and adherence to policies are essential for success in this role.
