Program Coordinator #581 Job Summary The U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms (SAA) seeks a motivated, mission‑driven Program Coordinator to support growth and development of Senate interns and junior staff. This role curates resources, aligns learning opportunities, and coordinates events and trainings within the Joint Office of Training and Development. Responsibilities Support design, coordination, and delivery of learning and development initiatives and resources for Senate interns and junior staff. Assist in developing programming, coordinating workshops, orientations, and other learning activities, including scheduling, logistics, materials, and follow‑up communication. Serve as point of contact for program participants and stakeholders, responding to inquiries and sharing relevant resources. Maintain program records, process documentation, and prepare basic reports to support efficient operations. Collect participant feedback and engagement data to identify opportunities for program improvement. Provide general administrative and operational support for Training and Development initiatives as needed. Other duties as assigned. Job Specifications Required Education High School Diploma/GED. Required Work Experience At least 2 years of experience in administrative, operations, or managing internship programs. Required Skills and Knowledge Strong understanding of Senate operations, structure of Senate offices, committees, and internships. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and staff at all levels. Understanding of institutional norms, professional standards, and workplace expectations in a high‑stakes, high‑visibility, high‑pressure legislative environment. Skill assessment may be conducted to evaluate proficiency in key areas relevant to the role. Desired Qualifications One to two years of professional experience providing administrative, programmatic, or operational support; experience as a Senate office internship coordinator strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to coordinate programs, manage logistics, and support multiple initiatives simultaneously with strong attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, practical resource materials. Genuine interest in supporting and developing learning programs that strengthen staff performance and professional growth. Ability to collaborate effectively and engage professionally with staff at all levels. Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information. Working Conditions Onsite presence required during Senate session; must be available during sessions, including inclement weather, holidays, weekends, and late nights as necessary. Occasional movement within the office; must be able to lift objects up to 50 pounds. Position considered excepted under government furloughs.
