With over 140,000 employees stationed worldwide, Nidec continues to be a unique organization, and each location maintains its individual personality.**Job Description**As Associate Counsel - Renewables, you will provide support to Nidec’s Conversion Division on all legal matters with a focus on legal work related to the renewable market.**Responsibilities & Duties*** Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements focusing on the renewable market but also including master supply agreements with international and domestic customers and suppliers, engagement letters with professional advisors, software license agreements, joint-development agreements for creation of intellectual property, non-disclosure agreements, commercial terms and conditions of sale and purchase, sales representative agreements and distribution agreements.* Analyzing and interpreting contract provisions in order to provide legal guidance to internal stakeholders.* Conducting legal research on various legal matters as they arise.* Providing support as needed to the Vice President of Legal Services and the Corporate Counsel.* Managing and delegating tasks, as appropriate, to outside counsel and support staff within the law department.* Interacting and developing professional relationships with other members of the law department and internal and external stakeholders to support Nidec’s business goals.* Developing and maintaining a database of contracts.* Other responsibilities as assigned.**Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities*** Law degree (J.D. or equivalent) from an ABA-accredited law school, ranking in the Top 50% of graduating class.* License to practice law in a minimum of one state (preferably, Missouri or Ohio).* Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in drafting and negotiating renewable commercial contracts with a law firm or in-house legal department.* Ability to prioritize work tasks to provide high-quality work product to meet internal and external deadlines.* Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.* Ability and willingness to travel on occasion (less than 10% of the time).* Excellent business judgment and the ability to work closely with a variety of businesses and personnel to provide timely legal advice and drive practical business solutions.* Ability to work independently with high attention to detail, strong organization skills and management focus.* Exceptional interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.**Additional Job Details**Management – M2Organizational Impact• Works to achieve operational, functional, and/or business targets within team with direct impact on departmental or job family results• Delivers operational results that have impact on the immediate or short-term results (e.g., less than 1 year) for the department and/or job family group• Plans and establishes goals and objectives for a team typically comprising of intermediate-level professionals and entry level professionalsCommunication & Influence• Communicates with parties within and occasionally outside of own department or job family, which may include external clients or partners depending upon the job area• Requires ability to influence others outside of own job area on policies, practices and proceduresInnovation & Complexity• Responsible for making moderate improvements of processes, systems, or products to enhance performance of the job area• Problems are difficult and moderately complex and typically impact multiple departments or job family• Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issuesLeadership & Talent Management• Manages a team typically comprising of intermediate-level professionals and entry level professionals• Leads, directs and reviews the work of team members in order to accomplish operational plans and results• Typically has hiring, firing, promotion, and reward authority within own area, in accordance with manager review and approvalKnowledge & Experience• Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one job area• Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization• Typically has a bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional certification and 5 years of prior relevant experience**Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action at Nidec** Nidec is an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative Action Employer encouraging diversity in the workplace.
