The Business Development Officer, Retirement Plan Services is responsible for originating, advancing, and closing business development opportunities with financial advisors and advisory teams whose practices are concentrated in retirement plan services nationally. This role serves as the primary relationship owner and strategic lead for retirement plan services advisor engagements from initial outreach through commitment and transition.

This position is designed to focus on retirement plan services opportunities that require a consultative, multi-stakeholder sales process and close coordination across firm leadership, the wealth advisory platform, corporate solutions, and operations. Given the specialized and relationship-driven nature of retirement plan advisor recruiting, this role requires deep, pre-existing knowledge of the retirement plan services industry, its participants, and its competitive landscape, along with the credibility to engage advisory teams managing substantial retirement plan books of business.

Responsibilities

• Own recruitment of retirement plan services advisor and advisory team opportunities nationally.
• Serve as the single point of accountability for progressing retirement plan services opportunities through the full business development lifecycle, from initial outreach through close.
• Develop and execute a national business development strategy focused on retirement plan services advisor recruiting.
• Identify, qualify, and prioritize prospects that meet Concurrent's target retirement plan advisor criteria, including revenue composition and practice concentration.
• Lead discovery conversations with prospective advisors to assess practice structure, revenue composition, growth objectives, transition readiness, and service requirements, ensuring retirement plan services represent the primary source of revenue rather than an incidental line of business.
• Position the firm's platform, partnership structures, and support capabilities — including the wealth advisory platform and corporate solutions resources — in a manner tailored to retirement plan-focused advisors and teams.
• Maintain responsibility for pipeline health, velocity, and forecast accuracy for retirement plan services opportunities nationally.
• Manage CRM documentation within Salesforce to ensure accurate tracking of deal stage, decision criteria, key stakeholders, expected timing, and risk factors.
• Partner closely with firm leadership and cross-functional teams — including the wealth advisory platform and operations team — to define target advisor profiles and support onboarding.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key centers of influence, including recordkeepers, custodians, wholesalers, and other retirement plan services referral sources, to generate self-sourced and network-sourced opportunities.
• Represent the firm through targeted meetings, industry conferences, and networking functions within the retirement plan services space.
• Collaborate with the wealth advisory platform and corporate solutions team to identify opportunities to expand retirement plan relationships into broader advisory engagements over time.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in advisor recruiting experience with a specialty in retirement plan services or recordkeeper, DCIO, or similar sales experience.
• Demonstrated success in originating and closing large, complex retirement plan services opportunities.
• Established network of industry contacts and relationships within the retirement plan services space; candidates should have substantive, non-junior-level experience directly engaged in retirement plan sales or advisor recruiting.
• Strong understanding of recordkeeping platforms, plan sponsor services, advisor transition dynamics, and centralized service models.
• Experience managing long-cycle, multi-threaded sales processes.
• Proficiency with Salesforce or comparable CRM and retirement plan industry systems.
• Strong executive presence, communication skills, and consultative selling capability.
• Certifications preferred, particularly Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) and CKP; Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF), Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS), Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC), and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) are also viewed favorably.
