Deck Supervisor

Location: Aurora, ON Salary Range: $24.53 to $26.53 Vacancy Reason: Seasonal Demand Position Summary The Town of Aurora is currently looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our Aquatics team in the Fall of 2026! You will be responsible for monitoring, supervising and/or conducting instructional and recreational swim activities to ensure a safe swim environment as assigned. You will be coordinating the work of on duty instructors, and lifeguards, ensuring pool equipment and materials/supplies are set up prior to start of program. You will provide feedback to the Aquatic Coordinator on employee performance and training needs; you will ensure program content meets departmental and public health standards/regulations, and co-ordinate emergency rescue and reporting as required. You will be responding to inquiries, problem solving and associated public education duties regarding safe swim habits, tidying pool deck and providing guidance and supervision to lifeguards and instructors when assigned. You will assist with administrative duties related to instructional and recreational swim programs and other associated duties as required. Qualifications In order to be considered for a position under R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 565: Public Pools, Section 17 (16), under the Health Protection and Promotion Act, you are at least 15 years of age. You hold the following current certifications: a Ministry approved lifeguard certificate (i.e. Lifesaving Society); Lifesaving Society’s Swim Instructor certificate; Lifesaving Society’s Lifesaving Instructor and Emergency First Aid Instructor certificate; a Ministry approved Standard First Aid (or higher) certificate; a Lifesaving Society Aquatic Supervisor certificate. Candidates will be required to complete a wet screening test as a part of the interview process. Applicants must have demonstrated experience as an aquatics instructor and lifeguard, including supervisory experience as well as, the ability to deal courteously and effectively with program participants, the general public and staff. You must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Successful applicants to this position will be required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check that is satisfactory to the Town prior to their start date at the applicants’ own cost.
