Tech - MLT/Medical Technologist/Clinical Lab Scientist

Job Summary:

The Medical Lab Technician is responsible for supporting high-quality laboratory testing in a clinical setting. This role involves preparing specimens, performing routine and specialized tests, and ensuring quality control standards are maintained.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Perform routine laboratory tests and prepare specimens for analysis.
  
  
• 
  Troubleshoot laboratory instruments and resolve technical issues to ensure accurate results.
  
  
• 
  Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, conducting preventative maintenance as needed.
  
  
• 
  Communicate technical information effectively to medical and non-medical staff.
  
  
• 
  Assist in training new laboratory personnel and support continuing education initiatives.
  
  
• 
  Recognize normal and abnormal values, ensuring accurate interpretation and reporting.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant scientific discipline.
  
  
• 
  Possess certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP BOC or equivalent.
  
  
• 
  Have at least 2 years of relevant experience, preferred in Hematology and/or Chemistry.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills for laboratory instruments and data issues.
  
  
• 
  Be able to work nights (9p-7:30a) and every other weekend, with flexibility for on-call duties.
  
  
• 
  Maintain valid South Carolina RN license or have submitted proof of application.
