Position Summary The Onsite (Lexington, KY) Electrical Engineering Technologist supports the Electronics Prototype Center (EPC) by performing hands-on printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) prototype builds, rework, testing, and lab operations. This role enables rapid product development cycles and supports engineering design validation while maintaining EPC lab capabilities. Key Responsibilities Perform surface mount technology (SMT) PCB assembly for prototype and small-volume builds Conduct complex rework and repair including fine-pitch soldering, BGA removal/replacement, and trace repair Build cables, fixtures, and engineering test hardware Assist engineers with debugging, troubleshooting, and validation of electronic designs Read and interpret schematics, layouts, and engineering drawings Maintain EPC lab equipment, tools, and materials inventory Support procurement, shipping, and receiving of electronic components Ensure lab organization, safety, and operational readiness Support multiple concurrent projects and prioritize work to meet deadlines Participate in continuous improvement of quality and efficiency Minimum Qualifications Ability or aptitude in electronics assembly and troubleshooting Ability or aptitude to read and interpret electrical schematics and PCB layouts Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Associate degree (2-year) or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field IPC certification (or willingness to obtain) Experience with SMT soldering and PCBA rework Experience with BGA rework techniques Familiarity with electronics testing and debugging Experience with LabVIEW for test and data acquisition applications Experience with Python programming for scripting, automation, or data analysis Experience developing Power BI dashboards for data visualization and reporting Experience with software tools for test data analysis and trend visualization Knowledge of ECAD tools for schematic capture, PCB layout, and design documentation Experience in prototype lab or electronics manufacturing environment Hands-on laboratory environment supporting prototype PCBA builds and rework.
