Sr. Substation Drafter

GFT is seeking a Sr. Substation Drafter to join our power group in the St. Louis, MO office. This is a hybrid position. Joining the power team at GFT means engaging in cutting‑edge projects that drive the future of energy infrastructure. We provide solutions for power transmission, distribution, and renewable energy, utilizing advanced technologies and creative problem‑solving to meet today’s diverse energy needs. What you’ll be challenged to do: The successful candidate will learn the design aspects of various substation projects from 15 kV up to 500 kV and work with senior staff to strengthen their understanding of designing utility‑class electrical substations. Responsibilities: Prepare plans and details with limited complexity in support of broader engineering activities. Prepare schematic and wiring layouts. Work with our engineer to incorporate redline markups. Work within a design group to complete projects. Qualifications: Associated degree or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 8+ years of related experience in the substation or power industry. Demonstrated interest in substation or power engineering through applied academic coursework, internships, or past experiences. Working knowledge of CADD software. Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Good written and verbal communication skills. Compensation: The salary range for this role is $35.00 – $42.00 per hour, dependent on experience and geographic location. Benefits: Hybrid (in‑person and remote) work environment.
