Position Summary Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health Job Title: Echo/Vascular Sonographer II Status: PRN Department: Cardiology Location: Tampa, FL Job Summary: Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic cardiology and/or vascular sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention under the supervision of the department supervisor, manager, or director. Essential Functions Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, and equipment operation and maintenance. Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines. Solve complex problems. Exercise judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information. Recognize normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information. Work closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic exams, and function independently in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager. Exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor complimentary to quality care. Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures. Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality. Adhere to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards. Assess the patient’s physical condition and age‑specific needs. Provide instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results. Perform proper patient identification, acquire patient’s clinical history, and ensure that the information is accurately documented. Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulate technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation. Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated. Comprehend and comply with Quality Control standards and participate in all Quality Control tasks. Administer medical aid as required for any emergency situation. Apply appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross‑contamination of contagious diseases. Utilize all Orlando Health computer systems effectively and accurately. Ensure safety of all customers. Maintain accurate and precise documentation; accurately record verbal and telephone orders from physicians in the patient record. Communicate openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Participate in supervising student sonographers, training, and orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow, participating in quality and safety initiatives, and acting as a department super user. Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards. Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Other Related Functions Assist in transporting patients. Follow established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation. Education/Training Depending on assigned department, meet education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines. Licensure/Certification Maintain current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification. Must maintain one of the following: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in fetal echocardiography; or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) #J-18808-Ljbffr
