Jenkins Jr. Fine Arts Center Position: Area Director in Residence Life Location: Murfreesboro, NC Job Id: 161 # of Openings: 1 Area Director in Residence Life Position Summary Chowan University invites applications for a full‑time, live‑in Residence Life Coordinator. This position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive residential experience that promotes student engagement, leadership, community development, and personal growth. The Residence Life Coordinator oversees the daily operations of a residential community, including staff supervision, programming, conduct processes, and facility management, while supporting the mission of a Christian university. Classification Full‑time, regular, exempt. Primary Responsibilities Develop, implement, and support evening and weekend residential programming. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of Resident Assistants (RAs). Conduct weekly staff meetings with Resident Assistants. Serve in an on‑call rotation as a professional staff member. Complete monthly room and building inspections. Report and follow up on maintenance and housekeeping concerns. Assist with Blackboard Transact Security operations. Serve as a conduct hearing officer as directed. Support community standards and student success initiatives. Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and supportive residential environment. Other Duties and Responsibilities Reside in an on‑campus residence hall. Ensure adherence to all Residence Life policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and manage complex situations. Excellent organizational and problem‑solving abilities. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Commitment to fostering community and student development. Ability to perform responsibilities in alignment with the mission of a Christian university. Minimum Qualifications 1–2 years of experience in student affairs or residence life. Experience supervising student staff preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a residential or campus setting.
