Position Title Dental Assistant - Advanced Department ASOD Clinical Operations-431500 Location CHAPEL HILL, NC, North Carolina, US Position Type Full‑Time Permanent, 40 hours per week – Monday‑Friday 8:00am‑5:00pm Compensation $45,258 – $51,794 annually. Sign‑on bonus of $2,000 paid in two installments ($1,000 within 30 days of hire; $1,000 12 months after hire). Job Summary The Dental Assistant supports the Adams School of Dentistry pre‑doctoral clinical programs, providing patient care and clinical education. Responsibilities include participation in the training and supervision of learners, monitoring and implementing clinic policies and procedures, chairside assisting to faculty and learners, interacting with patients, preparing clinics for patient care, sterilization, entering vitals and chart notes, exposing and processing radiographs, managing inventory, supplies and equipment, and performing administrative support tasks. Core Responsibilities Monitor and enforce clinic policies and procedures. Assist chairside with faculty and student clinical care. Interact with patients and prepare them for treatment. Set up and sterilize clinical equipment. Document vitals and chart treatment notes. Expose, process, and manage radiographs. Manage inventory of supplies and equipment. Perform routine administrative tasks as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency and completion of an accredited dental assisting program; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Five years of chairside dental assisting experience, with experience in dental education preferred. Physical ability to stand or sit for long periods. Professional Requirements and Safety Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and hazardous materials. Occasional overtime may be required. Patient care involvement. Sign‑On Bonus Eligibility Eligible if no recent employment in North Carolina state government or university system within the last 12 months. First‑time acceptors of a permanent full‑time or part‑time role are eligible for a sign‑on bonus, subject to budget and final eligibility determination.
