Patient Care Technician II

Job Requirements

Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician II delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, performing blood draws, collecting specimens, and assisting with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, and dressing. This position ensures patient safety and comfort, supports admissions, transfers, and discharges, and collaborates with the healthcare team to monitor and report any changes in patient condition. Additional responsibilities include managing catheter care, conducting blood glucose monitoring, performing EKGs, assisting with enteral feedings, wound care, and specimen collection. The technician actively participates in patient rounding, responds promptly to alarms, adheres strictly to safety protocols, mentors junior technicians, and contributes to enhancing patient outcomes and operational flow within the cardiac progressive care unit.

Work Experience

Candidates must hold a high school diploma or equivalent, possess current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA), and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred. The position demands strong verbal and written communication skills, the ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships and teamwork, and the capability to prioritize tasks and perform efficiently under pressure. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in computer systems, apply proper techniques for obtaining and accurately documenting blood glucose results, and execute delegated nursing tasks with sensitivity to the diverse needs of patients. Furthermore, thorough knowledge and adherence to aseptic techniques are required.
