Job Description The Church in the 21st Century Center (C21) is a catalyst and resource for the renewal of the Catholic Church, engaging critical issues facing the Church and Catholic community through conversation, programming, publications, and other creative initiatives. The Center is part of Boston College’s Division of University Mission & Ministry, which advances the University’s Jesuit, Catholic mission and supports the formation of the Boston College community. The Associate Director collaborates closely with the Director in implementing the goals and overall direction of the Church in the 21st Century Center. The Associate Director serves as managing editor of the annual C21 Resources magazine, working with guest editors and the editorial board. With strong editing and writing skills and an eye for creative design, the Associate Director serves as the primary liaison with the printer/publishing house in the development and production of each issue. The Associate Director coordinates strategic marketing initiatives, including working with multiple academic and administrative units throughout the University to plan and implement a wide array of programs; interacting with Boston College students, faculty, administrators, and prominent external scholars and speakers; and managing the Center’s marketing and promotional activity. Creativity is central to this role, and the Associate Director will help conceive and develop engaging new approaches to C21’s programming, publications, communications, and outreach. The Associate Director also serves on the C21 Advisory Committee and works collaboratively with colleagues across C21 and University Mission & Ministry. Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $82,100 to $102,650; salary commensurate with relevant experience. Requirements At minimum, a bachelor’s degree and at least eight years of work experience in a directly related professional role, including staff management, are required. A communications or theology background is preferred, along with excellent writing, editing, and presentation skills; demonstrated strength in creative design and digital marketing; and a strong understanding of contemporary issues facing the Catholic Church.
