Overview Join to apply for the Cashier role at Kroger . Responsibilities Be visible and actively greet, engage and assist customers. Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane. Understand the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle various tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons) and checkout procedures according to company policy. Adhere to company limits on cash shortages and/or overages and help control loss. Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs). Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator. Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons. Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines. Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions or issues and notifying store management. Inspect equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of items in need of repair. Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued by answering questions about products sold within the department and store. Adhere to all local, state and federal laws and company guidelines. Work cooperatively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment. Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information. Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues. Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults. Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
