What You’ll Do Site Prep: Clean and prepare surfaces using blowers, brooms, and scrapers to ensure proper material adhesion. Layout Support: Assist the Foreman with pulling chalk lines, placing stencils, and setting out traffic cones/safety gear. Material Handling: Load and unload 50-lb bags of glass beads and thermoplastic blocks; assist with loading paint into machines. Equipment Maintenance: Help clean and maintain striping machines, spray guns, and tools after each shift. Safety First: Act as a "spotter" for equipment and manage traffic control to keep the crew and the public safe. What We’re Looking For Reliability: You show up on time, every time. This is a critical leadership role for a professional who specializes in thermoplastic application and takes pride in delivering crisp, DOT-spec compliant results. Key Responsibilities Crew Leadership: Direct a 3–5 person crew, ensuring safety, efficiency, and high-quality output on every project. Technical Execution: Operation of thermoplastic hand-liners and melting kettles; ensuring material is at the correct temperature for maximum adhesion. Layout & Precision: Lead the layout of parking lots and roadways from blueprints or existing markings, including arrows, stop bars, and custom stencils. Equipment Care: Oversight of daily equipment maintenance (cleaning tips, checking seals, and routine kettle maintenance). Project Documentation: Complete daily logs, track material usage (thermoplastic blocks/beads), and report job progress to the Superintendent. Qualifications Expertise: Minimum 2 years of experience in pavement marking, with specific proficiency in thermoplastic handlers . Leadership: Experience managing a field crew and coordinating daily site logistics. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of MIL-spec, DOT standards, and glass bead application rates. Compliance: Valid Driver’s License (CDL Class B preferred or required) and a clean driving record. Physicality: Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs (material blocks). Flexibility: Willingness to work night shifts or weekends as project schedules dictate.
