Job Description The Nuclear Medicine/PET Technologist assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and operating the nuclear medicine equipment in order to obtain diagnostic scans. Administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications to obtain diagnostic images and/or provides therapy as ordered by physician. Performs quality care to pediatric through adult patients using professional and ethical judgment along with critical thinking in performing duties. Responsibilities Assist physicians in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by preparing patients and operating nuclear medicine equipment. Administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications for diagnostic imaging and therapy. Provide quality care to pediatric through adult patients using professional judgment and critical thinking. Qualifications Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB recognized Nuclear Medicine Program. 0-2 years of Nuclear Medicine/PET experience required; 1 year preferred. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association required. Must be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) from NMTCB or Registered Technologist (RT(N)) from ARRT; registration eligible with a B.S. or B.A. preferred. If registration eligible, must obtain certification within 12 months. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent; American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider).
