This position reports to the Associate Director Industrial Hygiene and is responsible for executing assessments, inspections, and tasks related to the industrial hygiene programs at Boston University (BU) and Boston Medical Center (BMC). The role is primarily based on the Medical Campus and remains flexible across all areas and departments served by OEHS. Responsibilities Perform assessments, inspections, and tasks related to industrial hygiene programs at BU and BMC. Support the industrial hygiene program by assessing hazards due to possible physical, chemical, and biological exposures in the workplace. Respond to emergencies on campus during off hours, including weekends and holidays as part of the on‑call emergency response team. Qualifications B.A./B.S. in a related field. Three years of industrial hygiene experience, preferably in an academic research or health care setting. Ability to obtain or already hold 24 or 40‑hour OSHA hazardous waste operations and emergency response training. Successful completion of a pre-placement physical. Ability to respond to emergencies during off hours, including weekends and holidays.
