Speech-Language Pathologist

The Speech-Language Pathologist identifies and assesses students who exhibit speech, voice, fluency, and/or language difficulties, then designs and delivers targeted prevention and remediation services to ensure these students can fully participate in the general education curriculum. This role encompasses conducting formal and informal evaluations, developing individualized intervention plans, and providing direct and consultative therapy in individual, small-group, and classroom settings. The Speech-Language Pathologist collaborates closely with educators and related-service providers to integrate communication goals into daily instruction, monitors student progress and maintains accurate documentation for IEPs, and regularly engages families by sharing assessment results, progress updates, and strategies to reinforce skills at home ultimately maximizing each student's communication competence and academic involvement.

Essential Functions:

• Determine referrals, identification, diagnosis, caseload selection, and reevaluation using professionally sound procedures, ensuring all referrals from teachers, principals, parents, and others are considered while adhering to state and district eligibility criteria.
• Participate in the School Intervention Team for students under consideration for evaluation, as needed.
• Serve on the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team for eligible students.
• Conduct single-disciplinary speech evaluations and re-evaluations in compliance with state and district requirements.
• Develop and document IEP goals for students with speech and/or language needs, based on individual assessments and following state and district procedures.
• Coordinate service schedules for eligible students, involving relevant school personnel as required.
• Provide research-based speech and language therapy to students in alignment with their IEP goals and specifications.
• Use consultation and planning time to conduct parent conferences; attend in-services, professional development sessions, and eligibility meetings; observe students in the classroom; and collaborate with teachers and support staff.
• Prepare and deliver progress reports for each student on the caseload to school personnel and families as required by IEP timelines.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with district and state regulations.
• Stay informed of and adhere to all district, state, and federal laws governing the delivery of special education services, including Section 504 and ADA modifications.
• Participate in educational meetings and activities to promote ongoing professional growth and remain compliant with district/state Special Education Compliance Plans and relevant federal regulations.
• Abide by the ASHA Code of Ethics and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills when interacting with administrators, teachers, parents, special education staff, and colleagues.
• Attend or conduct eligibility and IEP meetings as needed, providing clinical expertise and support to building administrators regarding communication disorders and speech-language impairments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or the Special Education Coordinator.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to meet district personnel requirements
• Demonstrated willingness to participate in professional development activities
• Possess a valid driver's license and have daily access to a vehicle for travel required to fulfill assigned duties

Education:

• Master's Degree (MA or MS) in Communication Disorders (required)
• Valid Professional Educator License with School Speech-Language Pathology endorsement (required)

Physical Requirements:

• Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
• Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
• Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree

Working Conditions and Environment:

• Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment
• Very limited or no exposure to physical risk
