Patient Access Representative

Job Summary:


The Patient Access Representative at the Regional Epilepsy Center coordinates patient access to medical care by managing admissions, scheduling diagnostic procedures, and facilitating communication between patients, families, and medical staff. This role requires knowledge of hospital policies, insurance requirements, and third-party reimbursement procedures to ensure seamless delivery of healthcare services. The position operates under general supervision and supports efficient patient flow and care coordination.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patient admissions and scheduling of epilepsy surgical workups and inpatient admissions.
  • Arrange diagnostic procedures and schedule services with various hospital departments.
  • Utilize knowledge of hospital policies, insurance coverage, pre-authorization, and reimbursement procedures to facilitate patient care.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, physicians, and medical teams to ensure effective communication.
  • Manage patient registration and access processes in compliance with regulatory and institutional guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to patient access and scheduling activities.
Required Skills & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a medically related or public relations field.
  • Minimum two years of experience in a tertiary patient care setting involving interaction with medical services, patients, families, and physicians.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital policies, insurance coverage requirements, and third-party reimbursement procedures.
  • Excellent attendance record.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience with epilepsy patient care or neurology-related services.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems and patient scheduling software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
Special Considerations:

  • Work is performed onsite at the Regional Epilepsy Center.
  • Position requires adherence to hospital policies and procedures related to patient privacy and data security.
  • Parking options include onsite daily parking and an offsite garage with shuttle service available weekdays from 5 am to 10 pm.
  • No night, weekend, or holiday shifts; work schedule is Monday through Friday.
Scheduling:

  • Regular daytime schedule, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
  • Off on state holidays.
