Assistant Mechanic

Job Description Starting Date: Immediately An assistant Mechanic position is available for the 26‑27 school year. This would be a 4 hour per day position occurring weekly, Monday – Friday. Overtime, call‑ins, and weekend hours may occur at various times of the year as needed. Summer hours will be adjusted as needed to fit the department’s needs. This position could be combined with a bus driving position for a total of 7 combined hours daily. Job requirements may change at any time based upon district needs. Applicants must pass a child/dependent abuse background check, pre‑employment drug screen, DOT Physical, and must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License within 45 calendar days of employment, and must fulfill the requirements to obtain a School Bus Driver Authorization from the Iowa Department of Education. Pay is based upon the 26‑27 Appendix A wage classification schedule with a minimum starting wage of $20.49 per hour. Starting date is flexible depending on applicant availability. This position will be posted both internally and externally, but internal applicants meeting the position qualifications will be considered first. Washington Community Schools is an AA/EOE employer.
