Registered Nurse (RN) Progressive Care Unit

Overview Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Inova Health, Inova Alexandria Hospital. This is a full-time night shift position. Responsibilities Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their relationships. Formulates individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpretation of trends to achieve best practice. Delivers patient care in a patient- and family-centered manner, integrating knowledge, skills, and experience to meet needs throughout the continuum of care. Advocates for patients’ rights from the patient and family perspective and provides counsel while acting as a resource to resolve issues. Coordinates care by accessing resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and planning transitions for patient/family needs. Documents all patient care activities according to documentation standards and assists the healthcare team with documentation. Evaluates processes to achieve outcomes, anticipates variances, and adjusts plans of care accordingly. Makes clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data, and clinical judgment, while supporting development of clinical decision making in the team. Minimum Qualifications Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an ADN, BSN must be completed within 5 years of start date. Experience: Minimum 1 year of RN clinical experience in an acute care setting. Certification: Current Virginia RN license or privilege to practice in Virginia under eNLC. BLS for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association required on start date. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in Progressive Care, Intermediate Care, Intensive Care, Neuro and Telemetry is strongly preferred.
